If you had to choose two people to save the world from an impending disaster, who would it be?

A poll by movie streaming service blinkbox found that Hollywood stars Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver are the favoured male and female choices for Britons.

The pair play deep-sea oil driller Harry Stamper in Armageddon and warrant officer Ellen Ripley in Aliens respectively and the survey was carried out because of the predicted Mayan apocalypse, which is supposed to happen on December 21st.

Movie expert Natalie Haynes said: "Hollywood has been obsessed with humankind's imminent demise recently so the hype around the Mayan apocalypse reflects our current neuroses."

People said they would feel safest in an underground bunker (27 per cent), while six per cent would just hide under the duvet if the world was about to end.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see Willis in action in real life.
