British Cycling has joined forces with Help for Heroes in a bid to support the charity and all of the people it aims to help.

The sporting organisation is aiming to get involved in the work the group does, which primarily involves helping injured and sick ex-servicemen and women.

According to British Cycling, the sport can be a key recovery aid for injured soldiers, and its programmed such as Battle Back are designed to help them, reports the Salisbury Journal.

John Mills, director of coaching, education and development at British Cycling, said: "Sport can play a key role in aiding the recovery of our heroes and we are proud to work with the Battle Back programme, which has made a real difference."

One inspirational story for wounded soldiers to admire is that of Jon-Allan Butterworth, who lost his left arm in service but has now become a world champion, record holder and three-time Paralympic silver-medallist.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801611875-ADNFCR
