A Brazilian chef has been successful in his bid to win the right to sell fish and chips to England fans at this summer's World Cup in his homeland.

With the tournament just two months away, Mario Freitas Do Valle has been told he will be allowed to serve up the traditional British dish at the Arena da Amazonia.

That is the venue for the Three Lions' first match at the World Cup against Italy on June 14th, so thousands of fans will be able to enjoy a taste of home when they turn up to watch Roy Hodgson's men.

Mr Do Valle also has a restaurant in the city of Manaus and he said there have been queues of people waiting to try his fish and chips.

He even traces his love of the dish back to a trip to Scotland in 2001, which is why he will also be treating England fans to battered Mars bars.

"I remembered Aberdeen and the fish and chips I had there and thought it would work. It has really taken off," he stated.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801710565-ADNFCR
