Everyone knows that carrots are good for you.

People are recommended to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day as part of a healthy diet.

However, individuals should spare a thought for young Leo Barnett, as the poor kid turns orange if he overindulges in carrots.

The kid suffers from hyper-beta carotenemia, which means he is unable to break down carotene found in orange-coloured fruit and veg.

His mum Angie Barnett said: "He looks like someone from The Only Way Is Essex when they have overdone it on the fake tan."

Because of Leo's condition – he is believed to be the only sufferer in the UK – he is on a strict diet and cauliflower is the only healthy produce he's allowed.

The poor kid has to take vitamin A tablets to look after his immune system, while he could be in for some stick in school when he's older.
