Bosnian shepherd ‘kills brown bear with bare hands’

A shepherd is believed to have killed a brown bear after going face-to-face with the beast and having only his bare hands at his disposal.

Blazo Grkovic allegedly killed the animal after it charged at him while he was tending to his flock in his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The shepherd is said to have managed to kill the creature by first giving it a bear hug and then strangling it as it swiped at him with its huge paws and sharp claws, while it also tried to bite him on several occasions.

"It bit me and I hit it until it died. I have injuries everywhere, especially in my left arm, where he bit me twice or three times," Mr Grkovic is quoted as saying by the Metro.

He is now recovering from the ordeal in hospital after managing to call his brother to rescue him, following the scary incident in the remote Foca region in the Bosnian mountains.
