The animal kingdom can be very dangerous, from poisonous snakes to killer whales – but not many would think that tuna fish and a cow could cause so much havoc.

Served best on a nicoise salad with green beans and hardboiled egg, tuna is one of the most popular fish to eat in the UK. However, one fisherman in Hawaii was nearly taken for dinner himself after a giant 200lb catch caused his boat to capsize, dragging him under.

When the tug on his bait came, Anthony Wichman thought he had struck lucky, and hauled the massive tuna aboard. His 14ft vessel could not carry the weight and turned over, before his leg became tangled in the fishing line which pulled him under the water.

The 54-year-old angler then freed himself and was able to call his wife for help after climbing back onto the hull of his partially-capsized boat. The US Coast Guard was quickly on the scene and Mr Wichman's friends towed his vessel, along with the giant tuna which was still on the end of the line, back to the port.

"Mr Wichman was delivered safely to shore with minimal injuries and his friends will have quite the indisputable fish tale to tell," said a Coast Guard representative.

Meanwhile in Brazil, a woman has been left widowed after a cow fell through the roof of their house and landed on her husband.

Joao Maria de Souza, 45, was lying on his bed when the bovine beast landed on top of him. Despite being taken to hospital he died from internal bleeding.

Relatives claim that Mr Souza was in good condition when he was taken away but had to wait too long to be seen by a doctor.

According to local media, this is the third incident of this kind in the region during the past three years. It was reported that the cow, which weighs around one tonne, was grazing on a hill behind the Caratinga house when it trod on a fragile asbestos roof.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801614964-ADNFCR
