A daredevil 20-year-old named Mr Coventry at a beauty pageant last year has shown his support for the armed forces.

Michael Gray leapt from a plane in a charity skydive to raise money for Help for Heroes, dropping some 13,000 ft, the Coventry Telegraph reports.

"I wanted to [do] something for Help for Heroes and I wanted to do it with something different. I'm always up for a new challenge," he said.

Mr Gray has already had the chance to meet soldiers, as two of his old school friends joined the armed forces last year, which may have provided inspiration for his brave stunt.

The 20-year-old raised £806 for the charity and said it was an "amazing experience" which he was not nervous about.

Joanne Thompson from Padiham is just as keen to show her support for the troops, as the Lancashire Telegraph recently revealed the 25-year-old is set to trek across the Sahara and raise money for Help for Heroes.
