Three individuals associated with Basingstoke Town Football Club are to walk 18 miles in an attempt to raise money for brave troops.

General manager David Partridge, director Sarah Parsons and commercial manager John Gatson will stroll the distance between The Camrose and The Rushmoor Stadium before their team takes to the field against Farnborough, the Basingstoke Gazette reports.

Money raised from the challenge will be donated to the Help for Heroes cause, which is a charity set up to help soldiers injured while serving their country.

The trio have been preparing themselves physically for the event and Mr Partridge noted: "The weight has not dropped off in great amounts but we feel fitter now and better for doing the training, which I have enjoyed."

It was recently revealed by the BBC that a new multi-million pound complex is being built in Wiltshire with funding from Help for Heroes – and the facility aims to help wounded servicemen and women rebuild their lives.
