A yachtsman will seek to cover 9,000 nautical miles in order to collect cash for Help for Heroes (H4H).

Sheamus Devine is looking to recreate a trip first taken in 1962 by sailing his yacht from Cornwall to Yemen, the Barry and District News reports.

He is going to start the task on March 17th and will encounter the Bay of Biscay, the west coast of Spain and Portugal and the Gibraltar Strait as part of his journey.

It is expected to take six months to complete and Mr Devine is seeking a recovering member of the armed forces to be his crew mate on the challenge.

He decided to raise money for the military charity "out of … respect for our fighting men and women" and he has made a request to the H4H-backed Band of Brothers organisation to see if anyone is willing to accompany him on the epic voyage.
