Thousands of pounds are being raised by a banger run through Europe that has been organised by RAF Corporal Paul Buckley, in honour of Help for Heroes.

A number of Formula One circuits across the continent will be visited during the event, including the Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona – which was created more than 20 years ago and hosts the Spanish Grand Prix annually – where the race comes to an end on September 6th.

Among the contestants are two teams entered by Cobra UK – named The Tigers and The Spanners – which will be setting off from the Silverstone racetrack on the trip on September 3rd, with the challenge to be completed in four days.

Some £5,271 has already been raised by the groups in the weeks leading up to the banger run, while the final target has been set at £10,000.

Andrew Smith, managing director at Cobra UK, said: "We have been overwhelmed by their generosity and support and I'm confident we will reach our £10,000 target."
