Most men like to get out for a few pints now and again.

But Arthur Reid has a thirst like none other and the man has called into his regular almost every day at 3pm for the past 72 years.

He estimates that in this time he has consumed around 30,000 pints of Courage bitter in The Griffin Pub.

The watering hole is in the South Gloucestershire village of Warmley and to celebrate Mr Reid's 90th birthday, a plaque has been fitted on his favourite chair.

"I've always worked hard and enjoyed visiting the pub – I've never seen the need to go much further," he added.

Mr Reid – who never got married or had kids – already has his own glass behind the bar for when he comes in.

You have to say it's a pretty impressive record and probably makes plenty of other men from the area green with envy.
