A British army officer has embarked upon a mission to travel 2800 miles, across 11 different countries and one continent in order to raise funds for a military charity.

Captain Ed Lloyd Owen, a reservist British Army Officer walked across continental Europe to generate funds on behalf of Walking for the Wounded.

He embarked upon the journey in March 2015 and is due back in London this month.

Mr Owen prepared for his epic journey by walking s between 20 and 25 miles every day as part of his gruelling regime.

Speaking about his journey earlier this year, Ed said in an interview published by Walking for the Wounded: "My legs are very sore and it is getting tougher and tougher to get through to the end of each week but I have to get on with it. I hate it every day but at the end of each week it is another 120 miles done and there is no giving up, I just grit my teeth. I’m sure I will look back and forget how painful it was."

Despite the arduous challenges and pain associated with the journey, Mr Owen said the prospect of helping other military heroes had encouraged him to continue.

He said: "I have two functioning legs and I can’t grumble. There is no room for self-pity.”ADNFCR-2867-ID-801799005-ADNFCR
