A kind-hearted pair of army doctors are hoping to smash a World Record and raise money for the Help for Heroes charity along the way by rowing around the entire coastline of the UK.

Captains Nick Dennison and Hamish Reid embarked on the gruelling 2,100-mile mission on May 12th and hope to complete their epic journey after 45 days at sea, the Sun reports.

Battling adverse weather conditions and rowing for 20 hours a day in two-hour stints, the duo hope to raise a staggering £20,000 for the charity, which assists members of the armed forces who have been wounded in battle.

Captain Reid, who is the medical officer of 22 Royal Engineer Regiment, explains just how tough the challenge is going to be.

"The race will put us in situations we have not experienced before and we shall need to dig deep into our mental reserves to maintain our efforts, uphold these standards and, in the worst case, survive," he says.

Elsewhere, a group of policemen from Thames Valley Police are set to cycle all the way to Paris in the hope of raising money for the Help for Heroes charity, the Bicester Advertiser recently reported.
