A major fundraising event to recognise the bravery of the Armed Forces is expected to atA major fundraising event to recognise the bravery of the Armed Forces is expected to attract thousands of participants.

According to Gazette Live, Salute our Heroes is to take place at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough on Saturday June 12th.

It is to be a free family event organised by the Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club and will be hoping to generate significant cash sums for the Army Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes.

Event organiser Mike Overy, who is a member of the Rotary Club, said: "My colleagues had no hesitation in agreeing to organise a family gala day in support of our brave soldiers fighting overseas."

Proceedings are to get underway at 11:00 BST when more than 1,500 individuals will take part in a sponsored walk from Stewart Park through the grounds of Ormesby Hall, while military bands will be performing throughout the day.

Prince William recently opened up a new £11 million Help for Heroes centre in Surrey and remarked the British troops had made him proud of his nationality.
