It might be that some members of the armed forces who are looking for love shy away from posting a picture of themselves on internet dating sites.
But according to one dating expert, this is a very bad move.
Steve Penner, author of The Truth About Dating Revealed, writing for Seacoast Online, advises that singletons would be wise to post at least three or four photos of themselves.
He suggests that if you don’t, you will be sending across the message that looks are not your strong point.
And single soldiers should ensure they show off their bodies, as Mr Penner says posting only head shots will make potential partners assume that the rest of you leaves a lot to be desired.
"Make sure you use relatively up-to-date photos. What does it say about your claim of being an honest, down to earth person, if you post a decade-old photo that shows you with a full head of hair or 30 pounds lighter than you are today?" he adds.
The Zeitgeisty Report recently stated that appearance is paramount in the internet dating world, with social networking sites favouring the photogenic.
