Most people will have heard the saying about busses; you wait ages for one and then two come along at once.

However, I didn't realise it is also applicable to children, as a 61-year-old has just given birth to twins after trying to have a baby for more than 30 years.

Antonia Asti used eggs that had been frozen ten years ago to fall pregnant with her husband, 55-year-old Jose.

Speaking to Brazil's Globo G1 website, Ms Asti said: "All I ever wanted to be is a mother and now my dream has finally come true. I fought for this for so long. I never for one moment thought about giving up."

The twins were delivered by cesarean at 31 weeks and will be monitored in hospital until they are healthy enough to go home.

It's an amazing story and just goes to show you what is possible if people keep believing, however I'm sure Ms Asti will be the oldest mum at the school ground.
