Water skiing is an activity I've always wanted to try.

It looks like great fun and it must get your adrenaline pumping.

However, I'm not too sure how I'd feel about giving it a go with 144 other skiers.

This is how many people took to the water in Australia as part of an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most participants tied to a single boat.

Initially, 154 individuals tried to complete a mile – there were nine fallers – but it was still enough to surpass the previous total of 114.

A 308 foot aluminium boom was used to make sure that the ropes did not tangle, but I reckon this must have been a hair-raising experience for those who took part.

Imagine having so many people in a straight line. My big worry would be that any fall could lead to a domino effect and bring the whole group down.
