Single soldiers who have not yet used online dating may want to begin doing so, as the number of people to be found through the medium is increasing.

According to ADI News, millions of singles are now utilising the internet to find a soulmate – and are finding the world wide web removes barriers that used to keep individuals apart.

The website noted many of those who have turned to cyberspace to locate a prospective partner have ended up sourcing their future spouse.

What's more, the portal claimed around a quarter of people are now either dating or married to someone they met via internet dating companies.

"Over the past two years, these sites have quadrupled in their memberships and the numbers continue to rise," it added.

BT's recent Race to Infinity fibre optic broadband initiative found a significant number of respondents with access to the web would be willing to give online dating a try.
