When someone promises that they are going to go on TV and be eaten alive by an anaconda before being rescued from the literal belly of the beast, it's certainly an intriguing enough prospect to make most of us tune in. But viewers of a new Discovery show that promised just that have been disappointed this week, and few have been afraid to air their grievances.

Over the past few months, wildlife expert Paul Rosolie has been promising that he would don a snake-proof suit and be eaten alive by a massive constrictor. He allegedly attempted the challenge last month and said the programme would air in December.

On Sunday (December 7th) the show was aired on Discovery in the US, and quickly fell flat on its face. Rather than showing the intrepid expert being swallowed, the show mostly contained footage of him trying to find an anaconda to eat him.

The 30-year old managed to find a 15-foot long, 18 stone anaconda, and that's where things got a little less interesting. After donning his amazing snake-proof suit, the expert covered himself in pig's blood and approached the snake while acting like a wild boar.

Despite the fact it quickly grabbed onto him and started to wrap its powerful coils around the hapless presenter, little else of note happened. For a while, he struggled before being overpowered and unable to move. It was clearly time for action. However, rather than swallowing the man whole, the anaconda had barely managed to get its jaws around the very top of his head before he called out for help from his team as he complained that it was about to break his arm.

And that was that. Ever since the show aired, people on social media have had a field day with the reactions, with some mocking Mr Rosolie for his failure to even get close to his promise. Others criticised Discovery for even airing the show, which Mr Rosolie himself has even been forced to admit was somewhat misleading. ADNFCR-2867-ID-801765072-ADNFCR
