‘Dress smart’ for a first date

People should put a bit of effort into their clothing when it comes to a first date.

This is according to personal dating coach Peter Dalton, who added however, they should not go over the top.

Individuals who are meeting after an online courtship will want to make a good impression, so it is beneficial if the "person thinks you've gone to a bit of trouble".

In terms of when is best to meet up, Mr Dalton – who is a member of the advisory board at the Academy of Sex and Relationships – remarked after work is a surprisingly good time.

"Take a spare pair of shoes and maybe a jacket and you have transformed yourself reasonably cheaply," he stated.

For those who are looking to find someone special with similar interests as themselves, one option is to join clubs that offer a range of activities they would like to do.
