The emergence of a kettle that appears to look similar to Adolf Hitler has captured many headlines in recent days, and amazingly it seems the item has been a huge hit with consumers.

JCPenney was responsible for creating the kitchen appliance with an uncanny resemblance to the Nazi Germany figurehead and it caused something of a stir when images spread across the web.

A spokesman for the company moved to reject suggestions the lookalike had been intentional, tweeting: "If we'd designed the kettle to look like something, we would've gone with a snowman."

Despite the scandal, the kettle seems to have proven extremely popular with customers, as it has now sold out online.

Features on the kettle are believed to give it a likeness of Hitler's side parting and moustache.

It first shot to fame when a shot of it on a huge billboard was sent around the world via the internet and many people noticed the similarity.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801591788-ADNFCR
