Over £320,000 has been raised for Help for Heroes (H4H) thanks to the efforts of a number of cyclists.

Ian Hulme and friend Iain Banks are just two of those who took in the Piste 2 Plage Challenge, which saw them complete a four-day bike ride from the Sainte Foy Tarentaise ski resort to the Cap d'Antibes on the Cote d'Azur.

Mr Hulme told the Buxton Advertiser that it had been a very demanding challenge.

"I was really worried about the fitness side, but after all the training I put in around the Peak District, I felt absolutely fantastic and I was pleasantly surprised," he added.

There were 125 riders in total who took part in the event and the 440-km route included the Cime de la Bonnette – which is the highest road in Europe – and various other sites that have featured in the Tour de France.
