A woman from the north-east is set to tackle a daredevil sky dive in order to raise money for charity.
Former air traffic controller Heather Whetnall is planning to jump from the sky in a bid to support Help for Heroes.
She served in the RAF for 19 years until deciding to leave in 2013, so the cause is one that is undoubtedly close to her heart, reports the Darlington and Stockton Times.
The ex-military woman is also no stranger to parachute jumps, although it is some time since she last took part in such an activity.
Ms Whetnall said she last completed a jump in 1984 when she was just 22, but she is adamant it is now time to give it another try.
"I left 30 years between the two jumps. I did it from 12,000 ft in glorious sunshine at Peterlee Airfield. It was good fun and I am just hoping people may want to support this good cause," she said.
