Woman skydives for soldier charity

A woman from Norfolk has leapt 13,000 ft - all in an effort to raise money for members of the military and their families.

Wendy Murfitt took part in the tandem skydive with the help of the Black Knights Royal Artillery Parachute Team, EDP24 reports.

The 47-year-old was raising funds for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association (SSAFA) - for whom she is employed as a caseworker.

Ms Murfitt noted she wanted to do something special to mark the organisation's 125th anniversary and admitted friends were a little surprised when they learned of her plans.

"I thought about it for ten minutes and then decided if I thought any more I would not do it, so I said to put my name down and [did] it as early as possible," the daredevil explained.

It was recently reported former serviceman John Chapman is taking part in every British Gas swimming contest this season as he hopes to generate cash for the Help for Heroes charity.
