A charity concert being held to raise funds for Help for Heroes has smashed its targets and records, according to reports, with the box office seeing more than £100,000 raised for the charity.

West End Heroes, hosted by stage favourite Michael Ball, was held at the newly refurbished Dominion Theatre in London's West End on September 26th, with massive success. And with text donations and other benefits still to come, it's hoped that the event will be able to bring about even more funding for Help for Heroes.

West End Heroes producer David Pearson, the Dominion Theatre's general manager, said: "This has been a massive achievement in only our second year. I want to thank everyone involved in what was a colossal undertaking – there were 200 people performing on stage and a small army behind the scenes, most who worked for nothing on their day off."

The show brought together performers from a range of different backgrounds. Many of those who were present on the night were united from some of the West End's current shows, including the likes of Miss Saigon, Evita and White Christmas.

These were joined by some West End soloists and dancers, as well as a number of the best military bands in the country as they delivered a show filled with top numbers, some unlikely song mash-ups and dancing displays to wow those in attendance.

Producer Mr Pearson said that he hopes to make the event an annual occurrence after the success that it saw this year. He went on to add, however, that this depends on the support of the military, West End producers and the artists themselves.

One thing seems certain, though – the public have backed the event and have managed to raise a considerable amount of money for the worthwhile cause.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801753138-ADNFCR
