US family has two buffalo as pets

Pets can be great companions for people who live on their own and might be a tremendous addition to a family.

Typically, individuals opt for cats or dogs, but one family in the US has a slightly more out-there approach.

RC Bridges and his wife Sherron share their home with two buffalo.

It means their house can get pretty crowded, as the two animals weigh a combined 233 stone.

While it is not quite a herd, there is no denying this is a strange pet choice and it has earned Mr Bridges the name of Buffalo Whisperer.

Such is the love the pair have for the animals, one of them was best man as they recently renewed their vows.

Ms Bridges told ABC News: "Well, he just sat up there [looking] all nice and pretty. And he held the rings and when he got tired of [holding them], he slung them off."
