Aliens may have landed in Merseyside, recent developments suggest.

Strange lights and a mystery diamond-shaped object that pulsated and grew brighter and bigger have been reported recently in the county.

It was filmed by a shocked onlooker, Matthew Oliver, who said it was bigger than any star he had ever seen.

He added: "It caught my eye as it was shining very brightly through my bedroom window and as I watched it began to gradually dim then slowly increase again in intensity, as if on a dimmer switch. I grabbed my camera and went upstairs into my office and began filming out of my attic window.

"Much to my surprise, as I zoomed in on the unknown object I noticed that it wasn't circular at all, but diamond shaped and it seemed to be pulsating in the center."

The phenomenon was also witnessed by other onlookers who claim that the object did not look like a star.

It is not the first time that Merseyside has seen its share of unidentified objects however.

In 2013, a UFO was reported in St Helens by a witness, Lilia Hughes, who was walking in historic Taylor Park.

She said it looked like a bright yellow spot in the western direction of the sky.

In 2009, the Telegraph reported that sightings were spotted from Southport to South Liverpool, as well as at spots including Ainsdale, Garston and Mossley Hill.

Many had reported four glowing, orange-red balls hovering in the sky.

The newspaper had also reported that an air traffic control source said similar lights had been witnessed previously in the north-west.

At the time, the Ministry of Defence said that although military aircraft do sometimes fly across the area, it failed to speculate on the cause of the lights.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801801040-ADNFCR
