Knowing when to end a relationship is tricky. The truth is however, if you asking whether it is time to end it, then it probably is.

But it is not always as simple as that. At times our emotions can get in the way and our judgement gets clouded.

Hanging onto a dead relationship can only cause further misery and regrets in the long-run.

Furthermore, it can stop you from finding someone who you could be truly happy with.

So how do you know when it is time to say goodbye?

Constant fighting

If you find yourself constantly fighting and arguing with your partner non-stop then it could be a sign that you are just not compatible.

When you are regularly bickering over the most trivial of things, then clearly some need is remaining unmet.

Those who wish to break up often find an excuse to pick fights at any given opportunity.

For example, if she flies into a rage at the most minor of infractions, perhaps the relationship has come to a standstill.

Violence

Any relationship where violence is a key feature is destined for the exit door. If your partner is violent towards you or you find yourself becoming violent towards them, then it indicates a fundamental disrespect towards the other person.

When the need for violence arises, then not only are you incompatible with each other, but it also means that the aggressor needs to deal with their own anger issues before being ready to enter into a relationship with anyone.

If a relationship is violent: get out.

Lack of intimacy

Physical affection goes hand-in-hand with most healthy relationships. If you had plenty of intimacy in the earlier stages of your relationships and it comes to a standstill, then it is a good idea to explore the reasons why.

This of course does not apply so much to platonic relationships or those where age or sickness is a factor, but ones in which that sense of intimacy has been lost without explanation.

While lack of intimacy should never itself be considered a reason to say goodbye, it could be a sign that things are going south.

Third wheels

Is there someone else in the picture? If for the first time you feel like being with someone else, or your partner is hopelessly flirting with another, then it is yet another sign that perhaps you are not as well matched as you thought.

Communication breakdown

Communication breakdown is at the root of the vast majority of relationship problems.

When you and partner are no longer able to communicate, even over the smallest things, then this is something that needs to be addressed if the relationship is to work.

If it cannot be addressed or your partner refuses to work alongside you on this, then perhaps it is time to say goodbye.

Mutual respect

If the mutual respect for each other as people is either non-existent or one-way, then it is another sign that the relationship is on the rocks.

For example if your partner puts you down in front of people constantly or has no respect for your time, feelings or emotions, then it may very well be time to get out.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801801811-ADNFCR
