A baker in the north-east is inviting keen cooks to don their aprons and raise their wooden spoons in support of Help for Heroes as she bids to raise funds in support of the vital charity.
The Jubilee Bake Off, at Jubilee Fields Community Centre in Shildon on Saturday, April 25th, will bring locals together for a day of selling all manner of baked goods in aid of the good cause, the Northern Echo reports.

The event is being organised by Heidi Cronin, a keen baker herself, who is seeking donations of cakes, biscuits and other sweet and savoury treats to sell on the day. And if the fact they would be helping a vital charity is not enough incentive, locals have also been told that there's a special prize on offer for whoever can bring the best offering to the table.

Miss Cronin, 33, told the news source: “Help for Heroes is fantastic charity that supports people who risk their lives for our country.

“I wanted to raise money for the charity but I also wanted to bring the community together. I enjoy baking myself and thought a bake sale would be the perfect way to do it.”

Anyone looking to donate their time and skills to the event can bring their cakes and other delights to the Community Centre for 9am on the day of the sale to help out. Help for Heroes will also have its own presence on the day, with the money from the bake sale being complemented by the sale of Help for Heroes merchandise in its own pop-up shop. ADNFCR-2867-ID-801782826-ADNFCR
