RAF crews honoured for their bravery

RAF crews honoured for their bravery

Royal Air Force (RAF) crews were among military personnel to be honoured in a number of presentations yesterday (June 21st).

The teams were handed Operation Herrick medals for their efforts in Afghanistan, where they braved rocket and machine gun fire to support British soldiers on the front line, the Oxford Mail reports.

One of the ceremonies took place at Wallingford's Market Place as individuals from RAF Benson were recognised, while another was based in Abingdon for 28 Royal Logistic Corps.

Also in Abingdon, members of Four Logistic Support Regiment were acknowledged and given accolades by Mayor Duncan Brown in front of the Guildhall.

Mr Brown commented: "It was an honour to present the medals. I'm always impressed by these people. They have got guts."

The Armed Forces Flag was raised in Corby yesterday to mark the onset of Armed Forces Weeks and to show support to the servicemen and women from the town.
