Prince Charles to hand out medals to Black Watch troops

The brave boys and girls who make up the Black Watch will each receive a medal from the Prince of Wales for their bravery and commitment in Afghanistan.

Prince Charles will hand medals to troops who returned from the country last November following a six-month tour, in his role as Royal Colonel of the regiment.

He will give them their medals in their base at Fort George, near Inverness.

Charles will be met by the commanding officer before the ceremony and will also hold a private meeting in the Officers’ Mess to learn more about what the brave troops achieved on their tour.

The Duchess of Cornwall recently presented medals to her regiment the 4th Battalion The Rifles.

While honouring the brave boys and girls who had fought for Queen and country in Afghanistan, she said the whole nation should stand and applaud them for the work they have done.
