Pedalo trip to raise money for soldier charity

Pedalo trip to raise money for soldier charity

A Leicestershire couple are to embark on an unusual journey in an attempt to raise money for a soldier charity.

Dave Leadingham and his girlfriend Julia are to travel 240 miles of the Grand Union Canal by pedalo, the BBC reports.

The fundraisers predict the round-trip between Oxford and Foxton will take the pair around three weeks to complete.

They are aiming to generate cash for the Support Our Soldiers charity and Mr Leadingham said he hopes the voyage raises awareness of troops serving overseas.

He added: "If things go wrong and we don't make it, then we've given it our best shot. We're just going to take each day as it comes."

The pedal-powered vessel will be travelling at four mph and can hold the participants, a tent and food.

Clint Varndall from Firlea in Upton-upon-Severn recently revealed he is to cycle 119 laps of a Worcestershire town to help collect funds for the Afghan Heroes appeal.
