Single soldiers might consider internet dating as a way to add some excitement into their lives.

Therapist Fran Sherman tells the Evansville Courier and Press this is a great way to take control of relationships and a person's social life.

She suggests individuals view it as an adventure, rather than being afraid of this method of discovering a partner.

"You will meet people you don't like or are uncomfortable with, but you have to keep moving forward," the expert states.

Those that are new to the dating game should create a list of qualities they want from a potential partner and Ms Sherman adds it is important to write down "potential deal-breakers".

Acknowledging traits that cannot be tolerated could save time in the long run, but the therapist warns they should be realistic because it is important to know that nobody is perfect.

Making a good first impression is also a key move, according to a recent piece from ADI News.
