Online dating 'a very convenient tool'

The surging popularity of online dating is mainly due to the convenience it provides, a relationship expert has suggested.

Internet dating guru James Preece said modern, hectic lifestyles makes looking for love on the web the ideal solution for people, including single soldiers, who would like to locate that special someone.

Mr Preece noted: "People are working longer and longer hours and have less time to go out and meet people. With online dating you can search huge numbers of possible partners."

Any stigma attached to the medium has now totally dispersed, he observed.

The specialist added the method is a perfectly normal way for soulmates to hook up and claimed one out of every three couples initially got together online.

A recent study carried out by Oxygen Media and Lightspeed Research found one-third of women aged between 18 and 34 make checking their internet social networking sites their first port of call in the morning.
