The mum of a soldier who cheated death by millimetres has spoken about how proud she is of her boy.

Andrew Kerr took a bullet in the neck which missed his spine by a hair’s breadth, which his mum Anji says is nothing short of a minor miracle.

The 31-year-old father of two, from the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, suffered no major injuries and was back at work just two weeks after it happened, completing light duties at Pirbright barracks in Surrey.

"I am so proud of him. I’m immensely proud of all of them. Andrew desperately wants to get back out there. He wants to be with his team," she told the Comet 24.

Lance corporal Ashley Irving, who lost part of his vision and suffered a fractured skull when a bullet went through his helmet, recently told the News and Star that he can’t wait to get back on the front line in Afghanistan.
