A branch of Morrisons supermarket in Milton Keynes is looking to help army personnel serving overseas this year by sending them gifts from its customers in time for Christmas, MK Web reports.

The store on Barnsdale Drive is running its new Stockings for Heroes campaign at the current time as part of a campaign to assist Help for Heroes, which is well known as one of the biggest UK military charities, helping injured service personnel all year round.

The Morrisons Christmas campaign asks for customers to bring small gifts into store and place them into the charity's trolley. It is looking for things like boiled sweets, toiletries, cards and games to fill stockings with. The campaign will end on December 4th.

At the end of the push for gifts, Morrisons will fix the gifts into packages and ship them off around the world for British soldiers who are stationed overseas as a way to make their Christmas a little brighter while they are away from their loved ones.

The supermarket is also looking to partner with local schools to get children interested in donating to soldiers.

Louise Goosden, community champion for Morrisons Milton Keynes, told the news site: “We want to bring some Christmas cheer to our heroes abroad. We hope that all of our customers will join us in donating small gifts and tokens – to make Christmas special for those on the front line overseas.”

British people really are getting into the spirit of donating to Help for Heroes at this time of year, with many events and campaigns now starting to pick up pace around the country. In recent weeks, it has been announced that a golf club near Sunderland has raised £4,500 for the charity, while a group of students will soon undertake a 48-hour rowing challenge in order to raise donations for Help for Heroes. ADNFCR-2867-ID-801760544-ADNFCR
