Medals and medallions featuring a William Ernest Henley quotation are set to be used at the upcoming Invictus Games, organisers have announced.

The sporting occasion for injured, wounded and sick service people such as British soldiers is set to take place from September 10th to September 14th this year.

The medallions and medals for the Games have just been revealed, and have been created by jewellery house Garrard, from a concept by Harry Parker, who lost his legs while serving his country.

Each features an engraved quotation from Invictus by William Ernest Henley: "I am the master of my fate". This is also translated into Braille on the pieces' rears.

The medallions and medals also feature an embossed area, which looks like stitching. In the middle of each is a black enamel finish showing the Games' logo.

The medals are set to be given to winners and runners-up at the Games, while everyone taking part is set to be given one of the special Garrard medallions, marking their part in the occasion.

The event will feature 400 participants, representing no fewer than 14 countries. Current service people and veterans are set to take part in several different adaptive sports.

"We are honoured to play a critical role in such a remarkable event in London to raise awareness of the recovery and rehabilitation of those who have served their country," commented Garrard CEO Eric Deardorff, according to the Invictus Games website.

Games organisers recently announced that ticket have sold out for the event's Closing Concert. Taking place September 14th, this is set to include Foo Fighters, the US group behind hits like This is a Call and All My Life, as headliners.

The band's last LP came out in 2011, but their eighth studio album is set to be released before too long.

Other closing concert acts include 'Starry Eyed' singer Ellie Goulding, 'I Predict a Riot' band Kaiser Chiefs, and The Vamps, a young four-piece who recently released their first LP and are known for songs like 'Can We Dance?'ADNFCR-2867-ID-801741308-ADNFCR
