Absolutely Fabulous actress Joanna Lumley is always doing her bit to support soldiers and her most recent efforts were to launch a new charity offering members of the armed forces free tickets to major events.
Ms Lumley unveiled the Tickets for Troops initiative alongside Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry, the most recent soldier to be awarded the Victoria Cross award for valour.
The first show open to sailors, soldiers and airmen is a one-off half-ballet, half-opera family show at the Royal Opera House on Valentine’s Day, with all 1,800 seats being given to service personnel and their families.
At the launch, Ms Lumley said it is one of many ways the country can support soldiers.
"This is a whole new way of showing our forces how much we support them," she added.
Last year, Ms Lumley praised the nation for supporting the Gurkha Justice Campaign which fought for the soldiers’ right to settle in the UK after serving in the army.
