A team from Goldman Sachs has lent their support to a charity that supports military heroes suffering from psychological problems.
Staff from Goldman Sachs paid a visit to a treatment centre set up by Combat Stress. The centre is based in Surrey, Tyrwhitt House, and welcomes army personnel.
The team from the investment banking group helped out with some of the maintenance of the treatment site and participated in various activities.
These included planting laurels, laying sleepers to partition areas, and setting paving.
Commenting on the event, Paul Varley, head groundsman at Tyrwhitt House said in an interview published on the website of Combat Stress: “With the hard work from the volunteers of Goldman Sachs, we have been able to progress forward with the car park improvement programme.
"With the introduction of the new hedgerows to soften the hard landscaping, it has helped the area become more aesthetically pleasing. Many thanks to all that helped.”
The Goldman Sachs visit was part of a global volunteering programme known as Community Team Works.
The scheme sees employees spend one day each year volunteering for a charity. However, it is not the only time that workers from Goldman Sachs had helped to volunteer for Combat Stress.
They had previously planted two meadow areas in the grounds.
