Fundraiser gets on his bike for Afghan Heroes appeal

Fundraiser gets on his bike for Afghan Heroes appeal

An energetic fundraiser is to take to his bicycle in aid of a soldier charity.

Clint Varndall, from Firlea in Upton-upon-Severn, is set to pedal 119 laps of a Worcestershire town in aid of the Afghan Heroes appeal, Worcester News reports.

The cyclist is currently in training for the endurance test, which will see him repeatedly take on the one-mile course.

He has set himself a target of £20,000 and has encouraged local residents to cheer him along when he gets on his bike for the challenge on Saturday August 14th.

"There will be collection points all over Upton, so I am hoping people will come along to support me and make a day of it," the 49-year-old remarked.

He added he would like to generate "as much money as possible" for the cause.

Norfolk resident Wendy Murfitt recently leapt 13,000 ft as part of a skydive to raise cash for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association.
