Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, especially if you're in the dating game. There's something about the season that's perfect for romance and everyone feels in the mood for love.

If you're trying to meet that special someone, you might as well capitalise on the festive cheer and sweep the potential love your life off their feet in the most Christmassy fashion possible.

Here are a few of our top dates for the festive season.

Christmas market

The only way you can get more festive than a Christmas market is if you actually fly your date to Lapland (word of advice, that's overdoing it).

Christmas decorations? Check. Mulled wine? Check. Delicious food? Check. Potential presents? Check. Festive music? Check. Christmas markets certainly have everything you could ever need for a magical date.

What's brilliant about Christmas markets is that you can stay as long as you want and they have a great atmosphere, making even the most awkward date better. It also provides plenty of talking points and sharing Christmas tales is always a great way to get to know your date.

Ice skating

This date isn't for everybody, so you need to check that your intended can actually skate first. However, if everyone's on board you can be guaranteed laughs and plenty of chances for physical contact. At this time of year there are plenty of outdoor rinks that have a special Christmassy feel too, so do some research about potential venues.

Festive film

Not necessarily original, but going to see a film is always a classic. Opt for a festive blockbuster and then head out for a meal or a drink afterwards to discuss. It's also a low-cost, warm option, which will no doubt be welcome at this time of year.

Decorate a tree

Maybe not a first date choice, but getting your intended over to decorate the Christmas tree can be lots of fun. Head out to find the tree together and then head home to decorate. Stick on some festive tunes and pour a glass of mulled wine. Once the house has been transformed into Santa's grotto, turn all the lights off other than those on the tree and watch a Christmas film. It's fun, romantic and intimate.

Country walk

For some reason the countryside and Christmas go as well together as love and marriage. Heading out into the countryside, all wrapped up, and taking a romantic walk will be incredibly memorable.

Afterwards head to a warm countryside pub for a roast and a warming drink. Perfect.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801760624-ADNFCR
