If it’s passion soldiers are on the look out for, the way to get it is to think about compassion, a relationship guru believes.

Rachel MacLynn, from partner headhunting firm Seventy Thirty, says women aren’t driven by sex and physical pleasures straight away, meaning troops need to focus on their feelings rather than their bodies.

She claims blokes need to remember one very important point, which is that ladies like to know they are special and that a guy is willing to wait for her to feel comfortable rather than trying to hurry her into the sack.

"Women need emotional care and attention to be in place in order to get physically interested in you. So taking time to be interested in her and how she is feeling, telling her she looks beautiful, holding the door open and being a gentleman will soon pay off," Ms MacLynn says.

Members of the armed forces should take any opportunity they can to sharpen up their flirting skills in order to get the girl, as a study by the University of Portsmouth, published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour, revealed women find flirtatious hot soldiers more attractive during the most fertile period of their monthly cycle.
