A couple hoping to celebrate a romantic weekend away ended up regretting their decision to make themselves a 'romantic' dessert after they ended up suffering terrible hallucinations at the hands of the drugs they had put into their ice cream.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that cannabis is 114 times safer than alcohol for the human body, but don't try telling that to Arun Junsdottir, 19, and Ruben Einarsson, 21, from Iceland.

The couple were enjoying a romantic weekend away together in their home nation at a lovely log cabin, when they decided to make themselves some homemade ice cream laced with cannabis. However, they apparently underestimated the potency of the drug, and rather than enjoying a mild high they had expected, they ended up with a trip to forget.

Between them, the couple had munched through more than a litre of the ice cream when it all started to go a little wrong. Police reported that Arun called in an emergency when her boyfriend became panicky, tore off his clothes and ran off outside naked.

Local officers shared the official report of the incident on Facebook, no doubt as a warning to other would-be chefs. It read: "Once the couple had eaten the ice cream the man took off all of his clothes and started running around outdoors, experiencing severe hallucinations.

"The girlfriend was also feeling extremely nauseous and was starting to have immense fears for their mental health, and called for police and medical help."

The police sent the rest of the ice cream for analysis, and it was reported that after spending a night under observation at a local hospital, the pair were back to their best and on their way. We're sure that's a mistake they won't be repeating any time soon. ADNFCR-2867-ID-801776947-ADNFCR
