A range of events are held all over the country on a regular basis in order to raise money for Help for Heroes, and the latest seems to be a beauty pageant.

Callie Whelton and Naomi Mosley came up with the idea of hosting the competition in the hope that it will contribute to their target of raising £3,000 for the military charity, reports the Rutland Times.

Both of the women work as care assistants, and are also due to run the Great North Run in another attempt to raise money towards their goal.

"I've been in the running for Miss England myself. It's really good fun, but there are no heats around here, so I thought this would be a great way for us to fill the gap and raise money for charity," Ms Whelton said.

Ms Mosley added that a panel of judges will be in place and they will aim to pick out a winner among the applicants, who must be aged between 18 and 25.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801612523-ADNFCR
