The government has revealed that a new Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) worth £300 million will be built in the East Midlands in 2018.

Located in Stanford Hall, near Loughborough, the rehab centre will give treatment to service men and women who have been injured or wounded in the line of duty.

Not only will the centre be one of the most advanced of its kind in Europe, it also set to be one of the biggest and is set to cover 144 hectares.

The cost of the centre will be covered by the the Duke of Westminster’s charity, Black Stork, and will offer the highest level of care for those who need it most.

What’s more, once the DNRC is up and running, the Heroes Rehabilitation Complex will also be moved from its current location at Headley Court in Surrey, to the new Loughborough site in order to provider a better level of care that can be integrated with that of the new complex.

Bryn Parry, Help for Heroes co-founder, said: “Help for Heroes started with the simple aim of improving the lives of our wounded. The Surgeon General, along with the Duke of Westminster’s Black Stork charity, recognise the extraordinary difference that the Help for Heroes Rehabilitation Complex at Headley Court has made to the lives of our wounded.

“Having treated thousands of individuals, in 2018 all the H4H funded facilities now contained at Headley Court will be transferred to bigger, newer, purpose built facility: the new Help for Heroes Rehabilitation Complex at Stanford Hall. The whole cost of this is being met by the Duke of Westminster’s charity so every pound generously donated to H4H will continue to make a massive difference.”

The Prince of Wales recently gave a speech on behalf of the charity Combat Stress, which supports soldiers with mental health issues, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Speaking on the charity’s 95th anniversary, Prince Charles said that there was a “profound and essential duty to care for those who carry the invisible scars of conflict."ADNFCR-2867-ID-801734567-ADNFCR
