A hug and a kiss 'are the best Valentine's presents'

A hug and a kiss 'are the best Valentine's presents'

Valentine's Day could prove to be a cheap one for soldiers this year, as new research has found a hug and a kiss are what women want the most.

A study by ROLO revealed that showing a loved one you care is the way to go, with a kiss and a cuddle the most romantic gesture a bloke can make.

Expensive jewellery, sexy lingerie and fancy dinners are the least wanted gifts, with a romantic weekend away also ranked lower than a smooch.

Anjula Mutanda, a psychologist, said small gestures like a kiss and a cuddle are what strong relationships are built on.

"It's the small gestures that mean the world to your partner. Why? It means that you are not only thinking of them, but showing them too, by putting those thoughts and feelings into positive action," she added.

Lynda Smith, writing on her dating advice blog for Suite101.com, recommended troops spend quality time with their better half rather than splashing lots of cash on gifts for her.
