Single soldiers using the forum of online dating to meet a prospective lover might want to take some tips from a relationship expert.

Writing for Psych Central, Joanna Stan recommended a few guidelines for those with self-esteem issues who want to get the most out of the experience.

The specialist recommended users should keep their expectations reasonable and not get carried away when they find someone they take a shine to.

She added daters should not lie about their appearance by posting an old photograph and need to be themselves when meeting in person.

"Others need to appreciate and understand you for [who] you are today, not some ideal version of you, or someone you might be in the future," the commentator remarked.

Beth Ames, reporting for The Frisky, recently advised guys to behave well when on a first date by avoiding giving the girl negative comments or not granting her enough attention.
